Abstract
Miscibility and phase behavior of the conventional LLDPE (ethylene-octene-1 co-polymer) and ter-PP (ethylene-propylene-butene-1 terpolymer) blend system which were mixed in a twin screw extruder have been investigated by DSC, DMTA, WAXS, SEM, and PM. Phase saparation was observed from DSC, DMTA, WAXS, and SEM studies, however, in LLDPE rich phase under 20 wt.% of ter-PP in blends, compatability was observed in DSC thermogram. In addition, the β and γ transitions observed from the dynamic mechanical relaxation study showed the characteristic peak solely arised from that of the constituents. Morphology observed from SEM showed that the phase inversion was taking place in LLDPE/ter-PP(60/40) blend. In addition, the spherulite size of the blends was dominated by LLDPE due to the nucleation effect of LLDPE.

LLDPE (ethylene-octene-1 copolymer)에 순수폴리플로필렌 고분자의 투명성, 내충격성 및 열봉합성 등을 개선한 상업용 tar-PP (ethylene-propylene-butene-1 terpolymer)를 함량별로 압출블렌딩하여 이들의 상용성 및 상거동에 관한 기초연구를 DSC, DMTA, WAXS, SEM, 편광현미경(PM) 등으로 수행하였다. 열분석 결과 블렌드의 전반적인 열적 성질은 LLDPE에 영향을 받으며 LLDPE/ter-PP가 80/20인 조성에서 상용성이 있는 거동을 보이는듯 하나, SEM 사진에서는 비상용성을 나타내는 상분리 현상이 관찰되었고, DMTA및 WAXS분석결과에처도 전 블렌드 조성에 대하여 두 물질의 상용성은 발견되지 못하였다. 특히 저온(-145℃∼실온)에서 나타나는 특성 피이크인 β와 γ 전이는 블렌드조성에 관계없이 이들 단위중합체의 특성이 그대로 표출되는 비상용성 형상이 뚜렷하였다. 형태학 관찰에서도 비상용성이 나타났으며 상전이 현상은 LLDPE/ter-PP(60/40)에서 발생하였고 구정(spherulite)의 크기는 LLDPE의 지배를 받는 경향이 관찰되었다.
