Abstract
Thermal behavior and cyclic oligomer composition of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) copolyesters obtained by introducing comonomers such as 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol, neopentyl glycol, xylylene glycol, or 1,6-hexanediol as a diol and 2,6-dimethyl naphthalate as a diacid ester residue were analysed. Ester interchange reaction rate between diol and 1,4-dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) depended on the diol and catalyst type. The activation energies for the thermal degradation of all copolyesters were similar to or higher than that of PET. From the results of experiment and theoretical calculation. the content of individual PET cyclic oligomer in PET copolyesters decreased with the increase of comonomer unit and more dramatically decreased with the increase of the repeating unit of cyclic oligomer. regardless of copolymer type. Cyclic trimer(C3) component of copolyester having 20 mole% comonomeric unit was decreased to half.

폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트(PET)의 지방족 디올(diol) 단위로 1,4-시클로헥산 디메탄올, 네오펜틸글리콜, 자이릴렌글리콜과 1,6-헥산디올 그리고 방향족 이염기산 단위로 2,6-디메틸나프 탈레이트를 PET 반복단위에 공중합을 통하여 각각 도입한 후 얻어진 공중합체들의 열적 거동 및 고리 올리고머의 조성 변화를 분석하였다. 여러 가지 디올과 1,4-디메틸테레프탈레이트(DMT)의 에스테르 교환 반응성은 디올의 종류와 촉매에 따라서 다르게 나타났으며, 중합된 공중합체들의 열중량 분석을 통하여 구한 열분해 활성화에너지는 순수 PET와 비슷하거나 더 높은 값을 보였다. 실험과 간단한 확률 계산으로 얻어진 순수 PET 고리 올리고머의 함량은 공중합체의 종류에 관계 없이 공단량체의 함량이 증가하면 감소하였는데 고리 을리고머의 반복 단위가 클수록 더 큰 폭으로 감소하였다. PET 고리 삼량체 (C3)는 약 20mo1e%의 공단량체의 도입에 의해 그 함량이 반까지 감소하였다.
